Bright White Kitchen Reveal

Two and half years later and I’m finally posting our kitchen reveal and all its details. It won’t be the nicest or largest kitchen you ever did see but it’s perfect for us at this stage of our lives. A little background about our home is we built it 2.5 years ago when we moved from our townhouse just a few blocks away. We were on a major budget and I could tell you of all the things I wanted but couldn’t have in this home. But when I think of where we came from I’m so grateful for what it is. My husband was currently working for a construction company and had been framing for 12 plus years when he had the opportunity to frame our home. He quit his current job and framed our home and has been running his own company since then. God had perfect timing in all of this so looking back and seeing how it all unfolded is surreal. I like to call our home a “custom” spec house because we were on a budget but I chose everything. Most things I love is WAY out of my budget so I find myself always searching for less expensive options that have the same feel or I’m doing another DIY project.
Creating a bright soft space was high on my priority list and I had always wanted a white kitchen. YES i’m wiping my cabinets a lot but I like it as I know they’re clean. We used the color “Simply White” by Benjamin Moore for all the cabinets and trim in our home. Wall color is a very cool light grey called “Paper White” by Benjamin Moore. I had such a hard time picking the right laminate flooring as there is so many ugly ones!! I was shocked and surprised when I found this oak laminate at End of the Roll. This flooring has held up very well and hides all the crumbs and dust! Seriously considering I vacuum at least everyother day I can’t believe how much crab accumulates on it around the island. (All that healthy bread comes with a price and using chia seeds as “sprinkles” as the kids call them makes a mess!) We did have a below cabinet vacuum installed in the island and have rarely used it. If I could change anything with the vacuum it would have had a pull out hose installed by the kitchen. Because of how much I pull out my current hose from the closet having one that easily accessible would be so convenient.
We used a quartz counter top that is called Minuet by LG Viatera. I find this countertop very easy to clean and it has not stained at all. Quartz is known for its low maintenance and “look a like” marble designs that are cost effective. You’ll notice that we don’t have a lot of counter space other than our island so there isn’t a lot of room for small appliances on the counters. Finding small appliances that were cohesive to the space was important so they blend in and not stand out. I’ve always loved the SMEG brand but didn’t love any of the colors they had available until few months ago SMEG launched a White collection. I’m so happy to report how much I love our Kettle and Toaster. They are a bit of a splurge but worth every penny!

Because the kitchen space isn’t big I didn’t want the glass pendents to overtake the space and make it feel smaller than it all ready is. These Glass Pendants are simple but have a gorgeous profile and I defiantly recommend the silver dipped light bulbs inside. You know when you look at a clear glass light the brightness from the bulb is unbearable? These make it so that you don’t have that issue and the best part is that they are dim which makes 4:45am breakfast bearable and not blinding.

Let’s talk bar stools! If I had my way I would have more of a french inspired bar stool but all I need to say is one word…KIDS! These metal bar stools are sturdy and wipe down perfectly. 2 years old and they aren’t even scratched. One day I’ll have the bar stools of my dreams but for now in this messy stage of life with our children these are perfect. Important thing to think of is the height as these come in 24″, 26.5″ and 30″. I found the 24″ to short for our counter height island and wanted the kids to also sit comfortably. These are the 26.5″ height bar stools and they are perfect for children and adults. (Shop mine HERE)

I tend to stick to the same colors (white & grey) so adding warmth through textures is important. Adding an area rug was something I’ve wanted but was worried it wouldn’t last (All I imagined was spagetti sauce all over it) To my surprise and 4 months later this light grey rug runner is in perfect condition. Our children help clean up after meals and  only a couple times has something dropped onto it and I found it very easy to clean. My husband also loves the feeling of carpet under his toes so he’s a big fan as well.

I can never truly say a space is finished because there is still so much I would love to do. Like adding wallpaper to the right side of the room and Acrylic Photos Frames. I could go on, but that’s the fun with decorating is that it’s always evolving. If I’ve missed any details or sources please comment below as I would love to help. I’ve attached more photos below.
